To ensure sustained growth and maintain our strong market presence, we consistently invest in R&D to enhance our existing production capabilities and support the development of new production plants currently underway.

Our strategic R&D efforts are focused on three primary pillars

Development and market introduction of finished dosage form medicines on a global scale.
Development of chemical Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), a pioneering initiative in Greece.
Development of biological APIs and medicines, with DEMO leading the way as the first Greek pharmaceutical company to unlock the Biotechnology sector

As part of our 2021-2027 investment plan, DEMO is placing a strong emphasis on expanding its R&D activities. This includes significant investments in our facilities in Attica, as well as the establishment of a new Research and Development Centre in Thessaloniki.

Inaugurated in 2022, our Research and Development Centre in Thessaloniki is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including five Physico-chemical laboratories, a Pharmaceutical Technology Laboratory, an API Synthesis laboratory, a Microbiology laboratory, and a Biotechnology laboratory. The Centre’s primary objective is to develop five new chemical APIs and 21 final products annually, thereby strengthening our R&D capabilities, driving innovation, and maintaining close ties with fundamental research.

The R&D Centre is focused on developing new chemical-based pharmaceutical products that will expand DEMO’s portfolio in both Europe and the USA. Additionally, the Centre’s ability to develop Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, combined with our ongoing investments, further solidifies DEMO’s strategic position in the global market.

Industry-Leading Manufacturing

DEMO has a long history of innovation in the manufacturing process, being the first company in Greece to successfully produce antibiotics and electrolytes in plastic packaging. It was also the first company in Greece to implement the Blow Fill Seal (BFS) production technology. Today, the company is the largest pharmaceutical manufacturer in Greece (based on the number of units produced) and the largest producer of injectable medicines in Southeast Europe.

With state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities that are continuously expanding and modernizing, DEMO has been the leading supplier to public hospitals in Greece for over a decade.

Seamless Global Distribution

DEMO’s Warehouse Department fully manages the flow of materials, raw materials, and finished products throughout their stay in the facility, in accordance with international standards and principles.
Specific workflows have been established, which are documented internally and systemically, both to facilitate the staff and to ensure optimal efficiency.
The new facilities are equipped with all necessary modern tools, including state-of-the-art robotic systems, aimed at continuously modernizing the services provided and improving the scheduling of deliveries to both domestic and international clients.

DEMO began producing its first hemodialysis products in 1996 with a complete range of hemodialysis solutions. In 1997, the company started distributing top-tier medical devices for hemodialysis. These included, among others, machines covering all modern hemodialysis methods, dialysis filters, vascular access needles, catheters, hemostatic dressings, and blood lines. In 2005, the company began manufacturing three hemodiafiltration solutions. These developments have established DEMO as one of the leading players in the nephrology sector in Greece.
