It was fifty years ago when Stavros Demos opened a pharmacy, which has evolved into the biggest pharmaceutical company in the domestic hospital market and one of the most significant companies at a global level, DEMO. The company celebrated its 50 years of successful and upward course along with its employees at an event with an emotional atmosphere full of hope and optimism for the future.

DEMO S.A. is the most significant Greek exporter of pharmaceutical products the last decade, with an extensive sales network in Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and Middle East. Since the end of 2013, the company has expanded in Germany with the subsidiary DEMO Pharmaceuticals GmbH based in Munich; it has also started operating a branch in China, while the operation of seven more branches in other countries is the company’s primary goal for the future. Moreover, the company has managed to be steadily in the first place of the domestic hospital market since 2000.

The steady growth of DEMO S.A. is the result of a series of investments, such as the creation of the largest and best equipped Quality Control laboratory in Greece and the building of the third manufacturing plant in its premises in Krioneri, expanding the production facilities to a total of 45,000 m2. The company’s successful strategy has resulted to € 112,000,000 turnover (data of 2014) with annual growth rate over 22% during the last 8 years; moreover, during the period of financial crisis an impressive increase in the number of its employees has been noted, resulting in a total number of 700 employees today.

During the speech of DEMO SA’s General Manager and Deputy CEO Mr. Dimitris Demos in the event, he noted: “Apart from our strong presence in the Greek hospital market ranking first among all other companies in terms of sold units, the investments and the steady upgrade of the quality are the cornerstone of our company’s exports and international collaborations. Today, 80% of our production is exported, while our market share exceeds 30% in many countries for years. Another factor of our growth – of similar, if not of greater importance – is the employees who have been supporting the company and, contributing with their knowledge and loyalty to the acknowledgement of the company as a leading one. With regards to the company’s plans, the development of its human resources and its financial results for 2015, the predictions are impressive, since the figures exceed far those of 2014, despite the turbulent environment and the difficult circumstances in our country.
